Sunday June 7th, was the AAS History of Astronomy Division (HAD) Meeting at Palomar Observatory to highlight the 50th anniversary of the Observatory. Lunch was served under the "Big Eye" itself.
MLOA President, Grant Miller at the old console of the Hale Telescope.
The meeting featured many exhibitors. Can you tell which ones are paid for by taxpayer dollars?
Monday night's Public Lecture Speaker was Dr. Geoffrey Burbidge of UCSD. It was an entertaining talk on the Steady State Theory....among other things. The invitation and honorarium was sponsored by the MLOA and its members.

SDSU astronomer Paul Etzel introduced Geoffrey and posed for a picture after the talk.
Grant Miller thanks Geoffrey and Margaret on behalf of the MLOA and its members.
Wednesday night was the AAS banquet. The highlight of the Banquet was a fun-filled talk by Marc Abrahams, editor of the Annals of Improbable Research (AIR). Abrahams was invited and an honorarium was paid for by the MLOA and its members.
The meeting was a huge success, thanks to SDSU and the MLOA!
