Project ASTRO San Diego

Astronomers and Teachers in Partnership for Learning

Project ASTRO is a national program of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, to improve science education in grades 3-9, by creating partnerships between scientists and the schools in their communities. Through multiple classroom visits and hands-on, inquiry-based astronomy and space-themed activities, teacher and students get to know their own "classroom scientist" as a resource and a mentor. The San Diego site began operations in 2001.

Our next Project ASTRO annual training workshop will be held on a Saturday TBD in October 2012. There is still room for teachers to sign up - so please contact the Coordinator Philip Blanco (pblanco@sciences.sdsu.edu) if you are interested.

Support Project ASTRO San Diego. We rely entirely on local fundraising to provide training, volunteer astronomers and teaching materials - directly benefitting our schools and our children in San Diego County.
