Walk south from the Harrington Visitors' Center, and the first building you will see, up the knoll to your left, is the dome containing the Mount Laguna Observatory 40-inch telescope. The relocation of this telescope to Mount Laguna is the result of substantial contributions of building expertise, labor, and material by a number of companies in the San Diego area, as well as funds raised by SDSU and the University of Illinois.
